Iain joined Glasgow Warriors from GHA and played for Glasgow Hawks during season 2005/2006.
Iain was educated at Lenzie Academy and Glasgow University, played for Scotland's under-18 team while he was with the Lenzie club, but he moved to GHA for season 2003-2004 before playing for Scotland's under-19 team, including world championship matches in Durban, South Africa.
He made his under-21 international debut as a half-time replacement in the 16-8 win against Ireland at Falkirk in February 2005, scoring a try with his first touch of the ball. He subsequently played in the under-21 world championship in Argentina, and this year he has played in all four of Scotland's under-21 internationals - two at full back and one at centre (in the victory against Ireland) as well as one as a replacement. Iain is a former captain of the Lenzie Academy first XV.
