Hef puts his feet up

Hefin O'Hare has raised over £2,500 for Yorkhill Hospital
Glasgow's Hefin O'Hare is enjoying a short, but well earned rest after his cycling heroics last week.

Hefin cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money for Yorkhill Hospital and it seems to have been an eventful journey.

Talking to the Glaswegian: "I did have a brush with the law on the Forth Road Bridge. Weather conditions meant cyclists couldn't go on the footpath so faced with going the long route, I instead took a chance on cycling on the road itself.

"Needless to say the traffic cops were soon on my trail and pulled me over once I crossed the bridge.

"Once I explained what I was doing we had a laugh about it and they sent me on my way - without a donation unfortunately.

"I had numerous problems with tyres. There were a few punctures but the worst was outside of in a thunderstorm.

"There was no one around for miles so I spent two hours getting soaked before I could receive some assistance.

"Then came the sunburn on my ears and lest we forget one or two blisters."

Hefin also says he was up against the clock to reach John O'Groats.

"A mate said he'd give me a lift back but I had to reach the finishing line by 12 noon as he had to get back to Glasgow for his work. Thankfully I made it.

"Now I've only a little time to rest as Sean Lineen has told me to be in for training on Monday."

Hefin O'Hare completed his 1000-mile challenge
Glasgow's Hefin O'Hare has completed his Land's End to John o'Groats solo cycle challenge!

Hefin cycled the last of the 1000-odd miles this morning to complete the trip in 7 days, 50 minutes - 3 days less than most typical times - an outstanding effort for someone with relatively little experience on a bike. He travelled light, with just a rucksack and overcame punctures, thunderstorms and sunburned ears as well as an interesting trip over the Forth Road Bridge.

All funds raised from the challenge will go to Yorkhill Children's Foundation - an organisation that funds medical equipment, research, and treatment facilities at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow to help make a stay in hospital less distressing for kids and their families.

Congratulations to Hefin for completing such a huge challenge.

Hefin O'Hare is making good progress
Glasgow Warriors' Hefin O'Hare is making good progress on his solo cycle trip from Lands End to John O'Groats to raise money for the Yorkhill Children's Foundation.

The aim of the Foundation is to help sick children by making their stay in hospital less distressing for them and their families by funding medical equipment, research and treatment facilities.

Hefin hopes to complete as much, if not all, of the 1,000 mile journey to John O'Groats in just seven days. That means pedalling approximately 140 miles every day!
