Lewis was a member of Stirling County's National Youth League Cup winning team in 2013, the third successive year in which the Caledonia club had lifted the trophy.
His debut for Scotland U20 came in the first fixture of the 2015 Six Nations, away to France, yet he would play no further part in the tournament due to a knee injury.
However, upon recovering, he was selected for the World Rugby U20 Championship squad and made three starts, including in the emphatic 29-6 victory over Argentina, Scotland's first over the South Americans at this level.
He represented Scotland under-16 at the Wellington Festival in 2012 and 2013, before playing in the FIRA AER European Championships in Poland as part of Scotland under-18. Lewis also featured as part of the Scotland under-19 squad which toured Romania in 2014.
Lewis attended St Mungo's RC High School in Falkirk, and currently plays for Stirling County in the BT Premiership.
Outwith rugby, Lewis was honoured with bearing the Commonwealth Games Baton prior to Glasgow 2014, and has achieved both the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
