August 30, 2014London Scottish 19 - 38 Glasgow WarriorsFriendly match played at Richmond on Saturday August 30th 2014 | No comments
Peter Murchie went over for a double Glasgow Warriors rounded off their pre-season programme with a 38-19 win over London Scottish at the Richmond Athletic Ground. Glasgow's six tries came from doubles by Mark Bennett and Peter Murchie with Lee Jones and Jerry Yanuyanutawa adding singles. Duncan Weir, Henry Pyrgos and Connor Braid shared the extras. The Warriors used their full match day squad and will be happy enough with the win, but after going into the interval 24-7 ahead, they will be frustrated with a disjointed display in the second period. With the PRO12 opener against Leinster just a week away, the Warriors will want to tighten up the defensive lapses that saw Scottish run in three tries. “We needed a work-out and we got one,” said Gregor Townsend after the final whistle. “We knew it would be a hard physical game, it’s a physical league, and we obviously allowed them back into the game in the second half by not keeping hold of the ball and not keeping our discipline. “There were aspects in the first half that we were really pleased with but we weren’t as accurate as we were last week so we’ll have to look at why that was the case. It was a really good conditioning game for us but we know we have things to work on for next week.” Warriors and Scottish will play a return fixture next year as build up to the 2015/2016 season.
