Paul Dearlove to lead Glasgow

Paul Dearlove captains Glasgow tonight in the Celtic League match with Borders.
Paul Dearlove will captain Glasgow for the first time in the Celtic League match against Borders at Hughenden tonight (ko 7.30pm).

Glasgow have entrusted the former Sydney University player with the role in the absence of his fellow back-row forward, Cammy Mather, the first-choice captain.

Paul was made captain of Sydney University First Grade team last year at the age of twenty-three and he led Sydney University to the 2002 Grand Finals. Pretty impressive considering that the team included some strong-willed and vocal players such as Pat Howard and Phil Waugh.

Hugh Campbell, Glasgow's head coach, is confident Paul will cope with the added responsibility. "He's impressed us," the coach remarked. "He's a very sensible player."

The signed Glasgow jersey was won by Catriona May who correctly told me that Cammy Mather signed for Glasgow from Leeds Tykes. Well done Catriona. Thanks to everyone who entered the competition. I hope to get another one up and going soon.
