Pro players allocated to clubs

James Eddie returns to Braidholm
After discussions between clubs in Premiership Division 1, Scottish Rugby staff and the Performance Advisory Forum, a list of pro-players allocated to clubs has been agreed.

Henry Edwards, Chair of the Performance Advisory Forum, said: "The list has been drawn up after major consultation between all parties concerned. The pro-players involved are those considered by the pro-team coaches most likely to be available to the club game.

"The players are allocated in most instances to the club from which they first signed a professional contract. Clubs were also asked to advise of positions in which they felt they could benefit from a player."

In matches in which pro-players are involved the differential between
the competing clubs would be one player.

The full list is:-

Hawick - Geoff Cross

Melrose - Mark Robertson and Calum MacRae

Boroughmuir - Simon Cross and Augusto Allori

Heriot's - Matt Dey, Alan MacDonald, Scott Newlands, Nick De Luca and John Houston

Watsonians - Steven Lawrie and Andrew Turnbull

Currie - Ben Cairns, A Kelly, Ally Warnock and Andrew Easson

GHA - Scott Barrow, Ben Prescott and James Eddie

Glasgow Hawks - Mike Adamson, Max Evans, Eric Milligan, Colin Shaw and Steve Swindall

He's gone to Melrose.

He's playing for Melrose this year, as is Robert Chrystie the scrum half.

I suppose the one question still exists if the players WILL actually be allocated and it doesn't, as in previous allocations, become just names on a sheet of paper.

We've had the same announcement from the SRU for the past few years but some clubs are still waiting for the allocated players to put one single appearance in!

Hopefully it won't be running aliong the same lines this time.

Not really on this theme, but since I've asked on other sites I thought I'd ask here, since it looks like some people on this thread are in the know...
...Lee Kibble and James King...are they playing pro anywhere this year or back in the club game? If so, where?
...Cammy Ferguson, Dave McCall and Murray Bringhurst - all dropped from academy or opted out? And in the case of the latter 2, playing where this year?

Lee Kibble decided last season not to carry on with pro rugby;his decision. James King has gone to play rugby in Italy. Cammy Ferguson has decided to concentrate on his medical studies - difficult combining both, although will carry on playing for Dundee High. I suspect Dave McCall and Murray Bringhurst were dropped from the National Academy but apologies to them both if that is wrong. McCall has moved from Stewarts Melville to Watsonians this season. Club rugby looks like it should be stronger this year and it will be good for the pro players who aren't involved in their pro teams squads to get game-time with their allocated clubs. They need to play.

thanks. Is Lee K going to play at club level or walk away from game?

Don't know to be honest. Hopefully he will still be playing club rugby - don't know if Gala have lost players since being relegated.
