Ian Riddoch resigns

Glasgow Warriors chief executive Ian Riddoch has stepped down after three years in the post.

The Herald claims the move is in response to changes in the management structure at the pro-teams and raises concerns about the teams being operated with a skeleton staff.

The move is a further blow to the Warriors after the collapse of kit suppliers Canterbury just as Glasgow were due to launch their new jersey and sponsor Response - the management service outsourcers.

not good news - thought he has done a good job - certainly Glasgow seemed to be a bit more commercial since he took over i.e. actually having the new season strips in stock at the start of the season, season tickets available to purchase more than a week before the start of the new season friendlies. Marketing of individual games could be improved and more effort to encourage new supporters would be welcome but hey resources available in Scottish rugby...

The club does appear to have some marketing difficulties ahead in attracting new fans.

The fixture list for the ML is a bit rough on us. If new supporters did come to the opening league games how do we get them to come back when there are only 3 home games from the end of September until April. These people will have lost interest and found other things to do.

Personally I think the fixtures are a bit of a joke but then again what do I know?
