George Horne went over for three of Glasgow's five first-half tries, with Kyle Rowe and Huw Jones also touching down. Sale replied with a penalty try and one by Arron Reed before the break and Joe Carpenter went over in the second half. A try from Scott Cummings completed Glasgow's victory. Warriors opened the scoring just two minutes in when George Horne crossed the line after great work from Matt Fagerson and Huw Jones. Horne converted for an early 7-0 lead. Horne struck again in the 12th minute with another try. Horne took a pass from Gregor Hiddleston wide on right before putting in a beautifully weighted grubber kick that he collected himself to touch down. The Scotland scrum-half missed the conversion, leaving the score at 12-0. Kyle Rowe added to Glasgow's tally in the 16th minute as he sprinted in from halfway with Horne converting to make it 19-0. Sale Sharks got on the board through a penalty try from a lineout drive in the 21st minute narrowing the gap to 19-7. Horne was sent to the sin bin for his role in the penalty try. After a period of Glasgow pressure Huw Jones took a pass from Sebastian Cancelliere to cross the line in the 23rd minute. Tom Jordan converted to extend Glasgow's lead to 26-7. Scotland winger Arron Reed responded with a try for Sale in the 26th minute, but Robert du Preez missed the conversion. Horne returned to the field and he was back in try scoring action when smart work from Jamie Bhatti put him in for his third try. Horne kicked the conversion to give Glasgow a commanding 33-12 halftime lead. The Sharks enjoyed some sustained pressure after the break but had to wait until the 60th minute to be rewarded with points when Joe Carpenter with du Preez converting to make it 33-19. However, Glasgow sealed the match when Scott Cummings scored from close range in the 64th minute. Horne missed the conversion, but he'd already played his part in a fine Glasgow display. A late yellow card to Angus Fraser in the 79th minute made no impact as Glasgow closed out the match and looked ahead to next weekend's visit to Toulon. As well as his three tries, George Horne managed to fit in a yellow card and won the player-of-the-match award. Horne told Premier Sports: "It was pretty eventful and I tried to get a bit of everything in there. In that first half we knew we needed to take advantage of the wind and we did that well. I'm just chuffed with the win." Glasgow head coach Franco Smith told Premier Sports: "The effort was fantastic. "It's early, it's the first game - it's good to see the guys pitching up tonight, but we have to stay realistic. Toulon will be tough. There's a lot of bridges still to be crossed. We won't get ahead of ourselves. "[George Horne] is an exciting player, creative and he gets himself in try-scoring positions." More to follow...
