May 06, 2023Glasgow Warriors 5 - 14 MunsterUnited Rugby Championship match played at Scotstoun on Saturday May 6th 2023 | No comments
Kyle Steyn went over for Glasgow's only score Glasgow's URC campaign came to an end at the quarter-final stage this evening as they lost out to Munster at Scotstoun. The Warriors played the majority of the game with 14 players after stand-off Tom Jordan was red-carded for a dangerous tackle on Munster's Conor Murray. With no replacement fly-half Glasgow were hampered as they looked to claw their way back into the game, with the Irish province ultimately grinding out the win. Malakai Fekitoa and Antoine Frisch grabbed Munster's tries, with Jack Crowley converting both, but the win came at a cost with a number of players forced off through injury. Glasgow's only points came late on through captain Kyle Steyn as his try proved in vain, with the Warriors' URC season now over but they will look forward to a European Challenge Cup Final in a fortnight. After the match, Glasgow head coach Franco Smith told Viaplay: "We should have scored in the first 25 minutes. We didn't get the reward for the pressure we built. "Then the red card, I'll never use that as an excuse, because we prepare for that. Second half, we just couldn't breach them. I'm really proud of the players' effort and belief. We'll take lessons, but well done to Munster. "We will rest and have a go at finishing the season as good as we can."
