Sione Tuipulotu skippered Glasgow to a valuable win in South Africa Glasgow Warriors secured a bonus-point win over Stormers at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch this afternoon. The win means Warriors collected seven points from their tour of South Africa and climb above the Lions and the Bulls to take second spot in the URC table. The opening period was a tight affair with both sides coming close. Stormers thought they had opened the scoring in the 24th minute but their try was disallowed after a knock-on from Warrick Gelant. Stormers did eventually take the lead 10 minutes later as Gelant's beautifully timed pass put Damian Willemse in for the opening try, which Manie Libbok converted. However, the teams went in level at 7-7 at the break as Glasgow hit back with a trademark Johnny Matthews' maul try late in the first half. The Warriors went ahead early in the second period as Sione Tuipulotu chased down Sebastian Cancelliere's kick to touch down for his side's second try, with Adam Hastings adding the tricky conversion to make it 14-7. Stormers brought things level in the 55th minute as Dan du Plessis went over with Libbok kicking the conversion. Glasgow thought they had nit back right away but Cancelliere's effort was disallowed for a forward pass. Libbok kicked a penalty to put Stormers 17-14 up, only for Kyle Rowe to go in for a brilliant try in the corner - with Tom Jordan nailing the conversion - to give Glasgow a 21-17 lead. And the Warriors effectively closed out the game when Henco Venter scored a bonus-point try, which Jordan converted, in the final 10 minutes. Glasgow captain, and player of the match, Sione Tuipulotu told URC TV: "Massively proud. We thought in elements of last week's game we played well, but we let it slip in a few moments. and I thought in those few moments this week we stood up to the challenge and sealed the game. "I think it was 0-0 after 35 minutes and both teams kind of came out swinging with no points on the board. It definitely did feel a little bit like a Test match and I'm just so proud of how we executed the game plan from the coaches. We executed a really good second half." Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith told URC TV: "I'm really happy with the win. It was a very warm day here for the Scottish boys. "The plan that we had was accepted by the players, to get a second group on to make a difference for us. "Apart from some of the set-pieces it was a complete performance. "All teams you have to break them down, nobody rolls over. For us it's important to stay on the script and stay on the plan. "It's good for us the way we can finish games, that's important."
