Andy was released by Glasgow last month and signed for Ayr much to the delight of coach Craig Redpath.
Andy, capped five times for Scotland at U21 level, joined Glasgow from Ayr at the start of the 2002-03 season, but had already turned out for Glasgow as a replacement in the 37-20 win over Swansea at Hughenden in the final match of the 2001-02 season.
"Andy will be a great asset to the team and he strengthens the squad considerably" said Redpath on Ayr's official website. "As a former pro player coming back to Premier Division 1, Andy's experience will be invaluable both on and off the pitch and we have already seen the contribution he can make on the training paddock. He is an Ayr man through and through and is another who can give leadership in the side."
"I am really looking forward to being back at Millbrae" said Andy. "It is a whole new challenge and Ayr have moved on since I joined Glasgow. Now I hope to take the club a further step forward in Premier 1."
