These figures are revealed today in Scottish Rugby's anti-doping report for last season.
Over the last two seasons, Scotland and Glasgow Warriors captain Jon Petrie, has been tested seven times - the most for any player in that period.
JP said: "It's not the most pleasant thing to be asked to do, giving a sample, but all the players realise how important it is and the benefit in continuing to show that rugby in Scotland is clean."
Gregor Nicholson, Scottish Rugby's International Administration Manager, who is responsible for the Union's anti-doping programme, said: "These figures and the extensive range of testing which is undertaken, demonstrate very clearly that just because a player has been tested once, it doesn't mean to say that he or she won't be tested again very soon after.
"I can also confirm that nine individuals were target tested this season rather than selected at random, all in accordance with our target testing policy."
