Sean demands killer touch

Sean Lamont wants Scotland to grab the chances that come their way
Former Glasgow star Sean Lamont has called on his Scotland team-mates to be more clinical in Sunday's must-win Murrayfield clash with Samoa.

The Northampton wing back was one of Scotland's best players in the 23-19 defeat to Argentina last weekend.

Sean's game-breaking bursts have made him a crowd favourite for club and country - but the former Glasgow player knows it's results that matter for Frank Hadden's men.

Chances, especially in the second-half, were passed up against the Pumas and Sean admits it is high time the Scots made the most of their opportunities.

Sean made his international debut against Samoa in Wellington 18 months ago and is now set to win 15th cap this weekend as he bids to add to his tally of three international tries.

The Perth-born player said: "If we perform well, we should do it on Sunday.

"We've put Argentina behind us and are ready to go again. There is no point in dwelling on what has happened. Obviously we'll look at the videos to see what we can improve on and take it into the next game.

"We certainly have to be a bit more clinical as we had chances in the second half but they came back and managed to grind it out.

"Scotland never seem to get the right bounce of the ball or whatever, that final pass has just been eluding us, but maybe we need to make our own luck.

"Samoa are a tough side and we have to be ready for them."

Hadden is chasing a first win at Murrayfield after the Scots threw away a 19-6 lead against Argentina.

Sean, who joined Northampton in the summer, is impressed with Hadden's coaching abilities but also praised much-maligned ex-coach Matt Williams for developing him as a player.

He added: "I got a few good touches against Argentina, which is always nice. A couple of holes opened up for me and I just went for them.

"I'm happy with the way my form is going for club and country at the moment. Matt stuck with me, so I can't say a lot against him, and I've improved since then hopefully.

"But Frank is completely different to Matt. He is so laid back and our game-plan is basically play what you see.

"We have some experienced heads like Chris Paterson, Scott Murray and Jason White as well as some young guys like myself and hopefully it can all come together this weekend."
