Rory Lamont starts at inside centre for Scotland A
Scotland A coach Henry Edwards says that the idea of using Glasgow's Rory Lamont at inside centre against Australia A had come from Frank Hadden.

The national coach has a multitude of choices at full back and wing, Rory's familiar roles, but is short of options at centre, particularly with Rob Dewey having picked up a knee injury.

"The idea came about only at the weekend," Edwards admitted in The Times. "Frank [Hadden] suggested it and I have supported it and given Rory the opportunity. I will be interested to see how he gets on there, he is a talented guy and trained well in that role when the squad was together at the start of the week."

Meanwhile Glasgow's Jon Petrie, says that clubmate Thom Evans is ready to make his Scottish representative debut in the A team. "He is ready. I have seen a lot of guys through my career who have been fast but not as good rugby players as Thom," he said. "He is electric and I'm sure he will take his opportunity."
