Rory Lamont went over for Scotland's try
Glasgow's Rory Lamont scored the only try of the game as Scotland A stuttered to a 13-9 Churchill Cup win over the USA in Henley tonight.

Scotland failed to capitalise on their superior possession and had to rely on Gordon Ross to kick them out of trouble.

The fly-half finished with eight points, but his effort was eclipsed by USA full-back Francois Viljoen who landed three penalties to keep his side in the hunt.

Rather a disappointing performance, we really were out-muscled by the Americans. The one encouragement was the defence, they didn't look like scoring any tries. But there's an awful lot of work to do on the forwards before Monday.

glad that we won but a bit worried. How did we only manage a 3 point win when we had full caps playing? Surely with the likes of Rory Lamont and Rory Lawson who are both fantastic players and Johnnie and Simon Webster we should have managed a bigger win?? Simon Webster is known for scoring tries. The Americans even complained that it was unfair because we had internationals playing so why didnt we show them what we can do. We all know that the guys can play well so lets just hope that they do it when we play England.

Maybe the latest IRB rankings announced this week point to what's happening. Scotland down to 11th in the World and the USA up to 13th place.

Hadden perhaps?

I dont think that Hadden should go though. I think he has done so much with Scotland and he has given some great players there chance like Johnnie Beattie and even with all his faults like picking edinburgh players I think that he is a good coach. But what do I know I am a girl and dont play rugby?
