Donnie Macfadyen will lead Scotland A
Glasgow's Donnie Macfadyen will lead Scotland A in their second outing in this season’s Barclays Churchill Cup – against England Saxons at Twickenham on Monday.

Donnie, who won the last of his 11 caps on the Scotland tour to South Africa last season, has battled back from one luckless injury after another and could yet force his way into Rugby World Cup selection.

A former national U21 captain who has also led his pro-team, Glasgow Warriors, Donnie is named as Scotland A captain for the first time. He is one of 11 changes coach Frank Hadden has made to the starting line-up. Only Rory Lamont, Simon Webster, Andy Hall and Johnnie Beattie remain from the team that started the midweek win against the USA at Henley.

One of Donnie's successors as U21 skipper, Wasps’ Heineken Cup winning scrum-half, Mark McMillan, 24, will make his Scotland A debut.

On the selection Hadden said: “The changes are about giving an opportunity to another group of players to show what they can do. Now we’ve had one game under our belt and a debrief, we’re looking for a more dynamic, accurate performance with a bit more rhythm against England.”

Donnie said: “This is a massive honour for me. Monday will be a big challenge and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Looks a good team. Gutted that Thom Evans was dropped but Donnie will make a great captain!

Yep he is! And what fun it is going to be lol! He is only back cause Ross broke his hand and Hadden will not call Budgie up away from the Sevens! I am sure that Godman is a great player for Edinburgh but I dont think that he can take the international pressures! Look at the Italy game? It will be fun tonight!

I was unaware that Ross had broken his hand, that makes it worse! It's sometimes hard not to be biased. Evans for example is good for Glasgow so we all want him to play for Scotland. It's just strange to me that as Godman isn't even good enough for EDINBURGH that he repeatedly gets called up for Scotland. How bad is Ross's hand? Couldn't Blair have had a go at 10 for the A's? I just watched the game and with my hand on my heart, Godman cost us the match. Once again proving himself clearly to be under the required standard to be an international (and in my view, professional) Fly Half.

Yeah, he was kicked in the hand at the end of the USA match and I think it is 4 weeks out. Didnt catch the game but gutted for the guys especially Rory, Johnnie and the rest of the guys..... I am a massive Cusiter fan and while two of the passes where his fault in the Italy game, he came out and admitted it and said sorry. I never heard anything about godman doing that for his kick? Mike Blair is still injured I think?
