Disappointing day for Scotland Sevens

Colin Shaw was in scoring form for Scotland
Scotland's London Sevens campaign ended when they exited the Cup and Plate competitions at Twickenham today.

The Scots lost out 15-5 to Wales at the Cup quarter-final stage in a match where they couldn't convert early pressure into points. Glasgow's Colin Shaw went over for the Scots only try.

More disappointment followed when Scotland lost by the same score to Australia in the semi-final stages of the Plate. Once again, Colin Shaw grabbed Scotland's only points.

Looking ahead to the Emirates Airline Edinburgh Sevens, which take place at Murrayfield Stadium next weekend (Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 June), Coach Stevie Gemmell said: "We now have to regroup ahead of Edinburgh and have a real go.

"I would say that my assessment over the weekend is that we have achieved but probably under-performed.

"We think we can achieve more and there's one more opportunity left for us in Edinburgh. We'll be working hard in training this week to put things right so that when we turn up next Saturday, we give the Scottish public something to be proud of."

Poor coaching - why didn't shawzy start against the aussies and why oh hwy did he not come on immediately when the aussies were down to 6 men, shawzy was scotlands most dangerous player and to keep him on the bench was idiotic.

Colin did really well and he scored the only points V New Zealand as well. I think the boys did really well for a young team that was mainly backs.
