One change for Glasgow

Daryl Gibson returns for Glasgow
Following their 1872 Challenge Cup win over inter-city rivals Edinburgh last weekend, Glasgow Warriors have made only one change to their starting XV for tomorrow night’s clash with Llanelli Scarlets.

Sean Lineen has re-instated Daryl Gibson to the midfield to partner Graeme Morrison. However, despite player/coach Gibson’s return, last week’s man of the match Dan Parks will continue to wear the captain’s armband.

Parks, who completed a ‘full-house’ last weekend with two tries, two conversions, two drop goals and a penalty, said: “Training has been really good this week. All the boys are buzzing after the win over Edinburgh.

“It’s amazing the difference a win like that can make because despite being this far through the season, we’re all full of energy and the whole team is really fired up for tomorrow’s game.”

Lineen added: “This is our last home game of the season so we want to build on our momentum from the last few games and finish on a high.

“Our game against the Scarlets down in Llanelli was our poorest game of the season so the boys definitely have a point to prove.

”The crowd at Firhill have been fantastic all season and we need them to get behind the team once again tomorrow night.”

Great to see Gregor at 9 again. THought he had a pretty solid performance last week for his first efforts in that position this season. The Evans brothers are on fire lets hope they get plenty of ball to burn up.
If Dan has a repeat of last week I think the boys are certain to win, good luck

Good luck boys! Will be cheering you from the (dis)comfort of a Sleazyjet flight - on my way up but sadly will be in the air (at least I hope so) while the game's in progress.

Aye - this is another strong team, with only one change. Scarlets will be keen too though. If Glasgow is really serious they'll show their mettle tonight - and I'll be a happy man reading tomorrow's news....

Another strong line-up but why oh why is Lineen persisting with Fa'atau even on the bench
Hef is a far better option IMHO.

Hopefully another good performance and we can carry on the good work from the past couple of games.

Wonder if PArks can make it a hat-trick of MOTM awards?

Fully agree on the Hef-Fa'atau debate. The Pacific Rimmer has proven to be a useless mouth. Great to see the Evans brothers getting game time tho I managed to find a pub that was showing the game last week in Singapore, which was no mean feat I can tell you, and thought they did really well. Max's bone crunching tackle to end the game was superb.

Confused that HoH isn't on the bench tho. Is he injured?

Astonishing that someone hiding behind a computer screen can call someone on the field a useless mouth, find a mirror and have a look.

This constant bashing of Lome Fa'atau is becoming a bit of a joke, yeah the guys not been the sensation we hoped he'd be. Lets be fair though if its been a long season for the Scots guys who went to the World Cup then the same must apply for Lome. Additionally he comes from playing on hard fast pitches with a team who shipped the ball wide at speed to him something we've failed to do regularly this season for any of our wingers. He's also not the only Southern Hemisphere player who's come up north and struggled to adapt, Aaron Mauger at Leicester's got worse with each game, Rico Gear, Sam Tuitupou and Greg Rawlinson haven't exactly propelled Worcester up the table. With regard to Hef he's definitely a fans favourite and quite rightly, but he's struggled for a while to get a regular start. I could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly in his first season a Glasgow he looked lost and couldn't buy himself a try, look at what some time and support have done for him.

I'm going to jump to Sunday5's defence here (not that he needs it)...

If Lome isn't getting quick ball then that's fair enough, but that is still no excuse for not putting the effort in in other areas of the park. His tackling, off the ball running, and ball-chasing has been truly woeful. In short, he hasn't put the effort in; why should this be defended?

Quite pathetic really son. I'm entitled to voice an opinion on this site. I don't think I was being unfair on a player who is highly paid but has only scored a single try in the whole season. He IS a useless mouth. If he even look bothered when playing I'd be the first to cheer him on but he doesn't.

It's just a shame that people like you can't take the truth without becoming abusive.

Posted by A True Warrior on April 18, 2008 04:50 PM

Don't see how it's pathetic; also don't know what you've taken as being abusive because I can't see where I'm abusive towards you. I've been a season ticket holder since before our first time at Firhill way back when we were Caley Reds and before and it just seems that currently there's a lot of negative comments/slagging off of certain players. I don't for a minute think Lome's had a good season or lived up to the hype that surrounded his arrival but what goods all this bashing/slagging gonna do? His try count is extremely poor, (not defending him) but he's played fewer games than any other winger with the exception of Max. Across the backs in general our try count is poor top try scorers Dan with 5 and Sammy with 4, think it says something about our style of play this season as opposed to the ability of our wingers. As I say wasn't meant to be abusive and if you took it that way then I apologise, we're all entitled to our opinions. My comment was more about general negativity towards players than specifically your comment. IMHO Hef should be playing a lot more regularly, argued this case earlier in the season, especially when we were struggling at outside centre.

Sorry True Warrior, I wasn't replying to your comment but to that chuckle tube above you.

Fully agree with what your saying about our style of play not being conducive to a high try count but a good winger would adapt his style slightly and go looking for the ball or at least put his opponent soundly on his backside from time to time. LF hasn't done this and I'm really sorry to say has been disapointing. I honestly with my hand on my heart wish him all success for next season because he surely needs a fresh start. Lets hope he gets it!

Sorry once again for the crossed wires.

Found that mirror to look in yet?

Posted by chucklevision on April 18, 2008 05:08 PM

Forget about useless mouths sunday service boy seems to be one of the many faceless mouths.

Posted by sunday5 on April 18, 2008 07:33 PM

LMFAO! It took you two attempts to get that little gem in? You should be on stage. Well perhaps not, you seem to be about as entertaining as the mind numbing drivel you've named yourself after.

Oh btw, is chucklevision your real name? Have you posted a picture of yourself on this site somewhere? I fail to see your point. Do you have one?

Why are you taking my comments so personally? If you wish to contribute to this debate then do so but don't come on and start gobbing off and throwing silly names around. It's childish. I suggest you watch some rugby and come back with a better knowlage of the game. You should particuarly watch games where Fa'atau is playing. You may begin to get an understanding of the discussion the grown ups are having.

Posted by chucklevision on April 18, 2008 10:31 PM

Before getting all biggy up in the mens trouser department and having a go at players going about their business or about whether I watch rugby and have knowledge of rugby I suggest you go back and learn how to use a dictionary and how to construct a basic sentence properly. Now you big grown up have you found the mirror to have a seriously good look in yet?

Posted by sunday5 on April 19, 2008 10:09 PM

Having a go at players? Yeah, you're clearly just a moron, aren't you? I can only assume that you didn't watch any games featuring the man in question, did you? I wasn't "having a go at him." I was pointing out that he isn't worth his pay packet as he has been rubbish for Glasgow. This is a fair and true point. If you'd wish to add something constructive then go ahead but I doubt very much whether you'd be able to.

I have no doubt what so ever that you will just make some more childish, pointless remarks. I also assume you shant even consider learning anything about the game but prefer to stick up for whichever burly man in shorts you have a crush on at the time. So go ahead but please try to be funnier than your last as it made you look a little slow.

I think it's a comment on what he promised to do upon which he has failed miserably ...
