Pros making their mark - but is it fair?

Rory McKay has been turning out for Aberdeen GSFP this season
There's an interesting article by John Beattie in today's Scotsman looking at the impact professionals are making when playing for their clubs.

A number of clubs have benefited from the inclusion of professionals such as Glasgow's Rory McKay, Alan Bulloch, Jon Steel and Kenny Sinclair among others.

While in favour of some professionals playing for clubs, John Beattie believes it can be unfair to some teams - on Saturday Jon Steel and Kenny Sinclair turned out for Ayr while Peebles had no pros in their team. Other clubs such as Glasgow Hawks haven't been able to call on any of their allocated pros this season but are still on course for the BT Premiership.

It's at the other end of the table where the situation could cause unrest. With relegation still a possibility for a host of clubs in the BT Premiership, the presence of professionals could have a big influence on which clubs maintain their top-flight status and which clubs drop a division.
