Inverurie-based prop Corsar, who was honoured at the SRU annual dinner at Murrayfield on Saturday, hopes the award, won by Aberdonian Chris Cusiter last year, can have the same effect on his own career.
Corsar, who has been named in the Scotland U21 squad for the world championships in Argentina next month, will begin his professional career next season with Glasgow.
He said in the Aberdeen Press and Journal: "Chris has established himself at The Borders and with Scotland and, hopefully, I can follow his success by making the grade in the professional game. I will be joining up with Glasgow in September.
"It is a fantastic honour to win the award."
Aberdeen Grammar head coach Damian Reidy has no doubts Corsar will make the grade at the professional level.
He said: "Stuart is one of the most exciting props in club rugby and his workrate is amazing. By going full time, the training and conditioning he receives will help him improve. He will still be able to play for us next season when available but, hopefully, we won't see him back at Rubislaw as it will mean he is playing with Glasgow."
