Sam Pinder is delighted to be involved with Scotland's training squad
The Scotland squad to tour South Africa and the Scotland A squad taking part in the Churchill Cup in Canada are to be announced today.

With Mike Blair sure to be the first choice for the South African adventure, Glasgow scrum-half Sam Pinder is one of the other No9s vying to take the place of the injured Chris Cusiter.

Sam told The Scotsman: "I always hoped I might one day play for Scotland - as a boy in Northland I supported New Zealand and Scotland in the World Cup - but I never came here thinking it would just happen. I was supposed to play against Scotland for the Northland Vikings when they toured in 2000 and I was disappointed to miss out, but I was selected for New Zealand trials at the time.

"To have the chance now to go on tour with Scotland would be amazing. I've just played as well as I can with Glasgow and left it to others to decide whether I'm good enough. I've got the chance because of Chris' injury, which is a blow for him, but whether I tour Canada with the A squad or South Africa with the senior team I'm just very excited to be involved."
