The future of the tournament had been in doubt after top clubs in England and France threatened to pull out over cash distribution and shareholder voting rights.
But it was confirmed yesterday an agreement has been brokered and Glasgow will get to spearhead Scotland's European challenge.
Lineen said: "I didn't imagine for a second that a group of selfish people would follow through with their intentions to snub such a massive and important event.
"I couldn't believe they would be stupid enough to wreck a competition which is so successful that even the people who run the game in New Zealand, Australia and South Africa are jealous of it."
