Glenn Metcalfe is Glasgow Hawks player of the decade
Glenn Metcalfe has been voted Glasgow Hawks Player of the Decade.

The award was presented to the former Glasgow and Scotland full-back at the Hawks 10th Anniversary Dinner via a video link with New Zealand.

It was revealed that when Glenn got his first cap for Scotland out of Hawks in the summer of 1998 against Australia. Jim Telfer had selected him without seeing him play - just going by newspaper reports of the season.

Well deserved award. Pity Matt Willliams ended his international career. Would have liked to see him stay on in Scotland and contribute to Scottish rugby in some capacity.

Williams had nothing to do with it! He was sacrificed to bring Kenny Logan to Glasgow.

I'm not known for my defence fo Kenny Logan, but even I have to say that it was nothing to do with him. Matt Williams forced Snowy out in the most disgraceful way. Had he been allowed to stay maybe the current Scotland backs wouldn't be in the mess they're in now.

Wel done to Snowy - must admit to him being one of my all time fav players - agree it is a shame he isnt doing any coaching over here but that may not be what he wants to do - heard he had joined the Fire Service in NZ.

I didn't blame Kenny, it wasn't down to him. He was brought with the budget that woudl have secured Snowy.

Chuffed to bits for him! Great player and gentlemen off the field!! Had the priviledge to meet him with Cammy Blades and was a really nice, down to earth guy!
