Playmaker Parks earns the plaudits

Glasgow celebrate their victory
Sean Lineen had cause to be smiling after his captain, Dan Parks led his side to lift the 1872 Cup.

Lineen led the praise for his playmaker and the way he led the side after they struggled early on. "The first five minutes was a demonstration of what not to do," he said.

"The guys stuck in and grew into it as the game went on. Eventually the defence got sorted out and then the Dan Parks show got under way. This is at least a level down from international rugby but it was a fine performance and the guys around him sometimes made it easy for him too."

Andy Robinson, Edinburgh's head coach admitted to disappointment but paid tribute to the way the home side had outplayed his in terms of taking their chances.

"As happens, if you don't take your opportunities you allow the opposition to get into it," he said. "We had two or three chances that we needed to take to give us some breathing space and we then allowed Dan Parks to control the game. You saw tonight how well he can do that if he is given time and all credit to him for the way he has come back under enormous pressure following the internationals."

Well done DP (and the boys)!
Great effort in the last two games to comeback after immense critisism and the dissapointment of six nations failure.
Like every player who tries their best week in week out, you have had your awesome, good, and not so good games but I know you give your all each game.
Your family know you have been hurting a lot from what the Scotland press and so called fans have been saying but we are really impressed and proud of the reply/comeback for your club.

P.S - Would love to meet up with JRP when I get there in July to show a bit of Aussie gratitude for his favourable comments!! (critisism is one thing, personal attacks is another)

DP see you back in Australia in June for a well earned break

After reading this back, maybe i should wait till im sober to rewrite and send....no bugger it!

The Glasgow men played as a team, and allowed Dan Parks to orchestrate the way to beat Edinburgh. On this great effort there could be a case for Glasgow to make up the bulk of the Scottish test side, and Sean Linneen have a coaching role.

Well Mr Hadden, how could you possibly overlook Dan Dare oh sorry Dan Parks after that display on Friday night? He orchestrated everything on the park and scored all the points

Anybody got any pictures of the lads with the cup??? C'mon the warriors for the league :P If only we didn't have mid-season slumps this wouldn't be so far fetched!! awesome boys congrats wish i'd been there

good performance, great to see the evans brothers finally getting noticed!! Surely now need to get into the full squad. As for dan.... well, another good performance for glasgow but its pretty obvious now that hes a textbook club player. Frank will probably pick him for the tour and if he plays well, great - but i really dont see it benifiting scotland...

Neil.. at last we agree on something (Evans brother, not your assessment of Dan!).. but I suggest for Uncle Frank Thom on one wing, Sean on other, Max at centre and Rory at full back!

Seems even Sean Lineen agrees with Neil, alsfan. 'He's (DP) a work in progress' was the quote in the Sunday Herald. I might suggest that means he's not of a high enough standard for international rugby as playing for Glasgow is ' a step down from international rugby'. No doubt there will now follow one of your rude diatribes!

"at least a level down from international rugby" was the quote I read. I don't argue with that. In my view, very few of our top players are international standard, unfortunately (although we would like to think it!).. but I can't argue with 2 drop goals, 2 tries and 2 penalties (almost) in one night against a team which has been performing well. "work in progress" will do me .. leaves room for improvement like the others!

Sorry Dan, missed out the 2 conversions, although went without saying, obviously!

Well done to all the guys for Friday nights performance - Dan you've silenced your critics!
