Colin has skippered the Warriors once before – against the Dragons last season – and he hopes he can help Glasgow avenge a couple of heavy defeats in their last two encounters with the big-budget Blues.
Colin told the Evening Times: “I have captained Glasgow once before in the Heineken Cup win over Newport Gwent Dragons last season so I guess I will be putting my 100% record on the line tonight.
“Captaining Glasgow is an honour and one I am looking forward to with a lot of pride.
“At the same time we know that on the last two occasions we have met the Blues they have given us a couple of painful defeats.
“The boys feel they have a real point to prove tonight.
“We know all about the fact that we are without a lot of regulars but then so are Cardiff – including a certain Dan Parks – which is a relief. So this is a chance for guys coming in to put a real hand up.”
The Warriors will be without 15 first-team members for the Firhill clash (7.35pm) due to a combination of Scotland call-ups and injury.
Colin starts alongside stand-off Duncan Weir, who will make his first appearance since dislocating a shoulder on Scotland A duty in November.
It’s a prospect Colin is relishing, saying: “Duncan is a real talent and it is great timing for us that he is back to full fitness given that Ruaridh Jackson is away with Scotland.
“Duncan has great energy and is a fine kicker and hopefully we can perform well together. If we can pick up a few points, that will set us up for the return of our Scotland contingent.”
