After some uncertainty, the Celtic League will go-ahead
After a close-season of uncertainty, the Celtic League is nearly ready to announce its 2005/6 plans.

Some all-Welsh games are set to be played midweek because of the Irish and Scottish desire to avoid clashes with international weekends.

Ospreys' stadium share with Swansea City FC caused further trouble, meaning the revision of a fixture with Munster.

More Irish games are set to be played on Friday for the sake of Setanta TV, although some will remain on Sundays.

"We're pretty close to a fixture list, we're within one or two games and then we have to talk to the broadcasters," Celtic League chairman John Hussey told BBC Sport Wales after a meeting in Dublin.

What about us? I for one want a return to rugby on a Friday night!

Most of our home CL games will be on a Friday night, but I think there will still be some Saturday games. Friday is also Glasgow's preference for European games too.

Setanta and Sky will have a say.

Most means anything from 51% to 99%. The former would be another disaster to any efforts to increase the support base. The latter would be too good to be true. It must not be a case of lets fix the start times for the home games in Ireland then Wales and we are then left with whatever is the consequence. Hoopefully DJ can ensure fair play.
