Van der Merwe heading to Glasgow?

DTH van der Merwe could be on his way to Glasgow
Glasgow's Kevin Tkachuk is in the Canada side to face Wales this Saturday at York University, but there could be a future Warrior in action as well.

DTH van der Merwe is heading to Glasgow Warriors next season, according to Canucks coach Kieran Crowley.

The South African-born 23-year-old, who trained for a week with Glasgow in April, has been named at outside centre in the Canada side to face Wales in Toronto on Saturday, a week after proving a handful against Ireland on the wing in Vancouver.

Asked to explain that positional switch, former All Black Crowley let slip Van der Merwe's impending move.

"He's come back from a long-term (ankle) injury this year and on his form last week and with a couple of little things that we want to try I thought we would move him into our midfield," Crowley said.

"He's an accomplished player, he's going to be playing in Scotland next year for Glasgow.

"I hope I haven't given anything away there but we'll see how he comes through."

The match is on Beeb 2 Wales at 7:45 on Sat apparently for those who want to cheer on T Bone and see what this DTHVdM guy is like.

On a wider point, I'm not as anti Glasgow management as many people seem to be and Ian Riddoch is a good bloke in my experience. However, we've been very slow to confirm the deals that are being done - everyone else has said Dan's re-signed but Glasgow have been quiet.

Could we do with a bit more transparency on the plans for next year?

Couldn't agree more. Edinburgh have been very forthcoming about players in - Academy boys and new signings, and also about players leaving - whether retiring or joining another club. Other than Cusiter and Dewey, they're not saying much. They also seem to be quiet about who is out other than Henderson and Milligan. Do they really not know what's going or, or would they rather we pick up these tid bits from other websites and not their own?
