Scotstoun currently hold just under 8,000 fans so a move to Hampden Park - capacity 52,000 spectators - would give Warriors scope to attract a much larger crowd.
Edinburgh use Murrayfield for their home fixtures with Glasgow and attracted a record crowd for a Scottish club fixture of around 38,000 last season.
As current reigning URC champions, Warriors hope the first run-out at Hampden the weekend before Christmas could also prove similarly popular for regular and casual rugby fans alike, and scrum-half Jamie Dobie admits it would be the ideal time to try to grow the club's fanbase.
Speaking to The Offside Line, Dobie said: "I think it's a really exciting opportunity if that does happen. "Obviously I've seen the rumours circling and the potential for that to happen. And I think that would be great.
"We love playing at Scotstoun and our fans are great, especially in those big games. We've had a good record against Edinburgh and other teams there recently.
"But I think the opportunity to take it to a bigger stadium - another national stadium in Glasgow - would be great and hopefully can attract some new fans and get more people in the doors.
"I don't know if Glasgow have played there before but I've never been to or played at Hampden. So I think that would be an awesome opportunity and hopefully we can get as many people through the gates if the game is moved there, because the Murrayfield one sells really well and they've always got a good crowd. So it would be great to have that for both legs of the match."
